CHAPTER SIX

  •

  • USN RANKING. The 2011 U.S. News and World Report (USN) ranking of the Top 100 (due to a three-way tie for position 100, the top 102) law schools appeared in AMERICA'S BEST GRADUATE SCHOOLS (2010 edition). This publication makes an attempt to rank the remaining 86 accredited law schools by partitioning these law schools into Tier 3 (law schools ranked 103 to 144) and Tier 4 (law schools ranked 145 to 188). USN makes no explicit ranking of the law schools withn TIER 3; the same applies to TIER 4. We do male an attempt to rank within these bottom two tiers.

LIKELY TO MOVE FROM TIER 3 TO TIER 4
U South Carolina should be in Tier 3 TODAY.
  • The original US News Law School Ranking ranked the TOP TWENTY (1987). The top ten and the top sixteen of the November 1987 ranking of law schools are the same (albeit their order has changed).
  • We make some suggestions for IMPROVING RANKINGS.
