About the rankings. Since there are 37 law schools in Tier Three, a law school ranking of a Tier Three law school among its Tier Three peers will be an integer between 1 and 37; because of possible ties, a ranking may be a range (e.g. 7 - 11; note that 7-11 indicates a five way tie for seventh or ninth, depending on your point of view. Dark blue in a cell indicates that, in the column category, the law school did well with respect to its peers whereas dark pink indicates the opposite. In the 2009 ranking, the University of Nebraska was in the top 104 (ranked 74.5) but, in the 2010 ranking, it is not among the top 102. The University of Nebraska is far-and-away the best 2010 Tier Three Law School and far-and-away not the worst 2010 Top 102 law school. USNews should run its numbers again. In the 2009 ranking, the University of Hawaii was in the top 104 (ranked 84.5) but, in the 2010 ranking, it is not among the top 102. The University of Hawaii has the numbers of a very good Tier Three Law School and has an impressive Student/Teacher Ratio (9.2). In the 2009 ranking, Stetson University (FL) was at the bottom of the top 104 (a five-way tie) but, in the 2010 ranking, it is not among the top 102. Stetson University has the numbers of an average or slightl-above averrage Tier Three Law School; It may well be in Tier Three for sometime. Predictions for the Future. Looking good for a move to the top 100 are: U Nebraska, U Mississippi, Texas Tech, and U Hawaii. Looking like Tier Four material are: Oho Northern U, Franklin Pierce, and Southwestern. |
